Hardwood Species We Carry
18 SpeciesAmerican Walnut
One of the most sought-after domestic hardwoods — rich chocolate-brown color with dramatic grain. Used for high-end furniture, custom cabinetry, countertops, and architectural woodwork. Available in various widths and thicknesses.
White Oak
The dominant species in contemporary interior design — tight, consistent grain and warm tan color. The #1 specified hardwood for cabinets, flooring, and furniture in South Florida’s luxury residential and hospitality market.
Red Oak
The traditional North American cabinet and furniture hardwood — open grain, moderate price, excellent workability. Widely used for face frames, drawer components, and furniture parts in production cabinet shops throughout Miami.
Hard Maple
The hardest and most durable domestic hardwood — pale cream color, fine grain, exceptional wear resistance. Specified for butcher block countertops, workbench tops, dance floors, and high-use furniture surfaces.
Poplar
The go-to utility hardwood for painted cabinet interiors, drawer boxes, and furniture structural components. Light weight, easy to machine, takes paint and primer exceptionally well. One of the most cost-effective domestic hardwoods — ideal for secondary wood and painted millwork throughout South Florida’s cabinet and furniture industry.
Mahogany
We carry both African Mahogany and Honduras Mahogany — the classic furniture and marine joinery hardwood. Straight grain, excellent workability, natural rot resistance. Preferred for marine interior cabinetry, exterior millwork, and traditional furniture.
Sapele
An African hardwood with a distinctive interlocked ribbon grain that produces a striking “ribbon stripe” figure when quarter-sawn. Used for premium furniture, cabinet faces, and architectural panels. A popular Mahogany substitute with superior figure.
Teak
The premier marine lumber species — naturally oily, extremely durable, rot and insect resistant. Specified for boat decking, cockpit sole, handrails, and exterior marine joinery throughout South Florida’s boatbuilding and yacht refit industry.
Cumaru
Brazilian teak — one of the densest hardwoods available with a Janka hardness of 3,540 lbf. Naturally rot and insect resistant, Cumaru is prized for heavy-duty decking, marine docks, and structural exterior applications where extreme durability is required.
Ipe
Brazilian walnut — the most specified exotic decking species in the world. Janka hardness of 3,510 lbf, dark olive-brown to reddish-brown coloring, and a Class A fire rating make Ipe the top choice for architects, landscape contractors, and marine builders across South Florida.
Jatoba
Brazilian cherry — one of the heaviest and most durable hardwoods available, with a Janka hardness of 2,820 lbf. Rich reddish-brown color deepens beautifully with age and sunlight. Highly resistant to rot, termites, and fungi, Jatoba is a premium choice for decking, flooring, cabinetry, and South Florida architectural millwork.
Tigerwood
Brazilian koa — instantly recognized by its bold orange-brown body with dramatic dark striping. Janka hardness of 2,160 lbf with exceptional natural water resistance and scratch resistance. A top choice for high-end South Florida decking, feature flooring, and interior wall cladding where visual impact is the priority.
Garapa
Brazilian ash — golden honey tones with excellent resistance to decay, insects, and fungi. Lighter than Ipe or Cumaru yet still highly durable, Garapa is a favorite for pool surrounds, residential decking, and exterior cladding in South Florida where a warm, bright aesthetic is desired.
Angelim
Angelim Pedra — a robust Brazilian hardwood with a yellowish-beige to pinkish-brown heartwood that deepens with age. Highly resistant to termites, moisture, and fungi with a specific gravity of 0.79. Absorbs stains and oils well, making it ideal for decking, exterior carpentry, and heavy-duty structural applications.
Purpleheart
One of the most visually distinctive hardwoods — vivid purple coloring that deepens to a rich plum-brown with UV exposure. Janka hardness of 2,520 lbf with excellent resistance to decay and insects. Highly specified for architectural millwork, feature staircases, marine dock framing, and decorative accent work throughout South Florida.
Massaranduba
Brazilian redwood — deep reddish-brown with a fine, uniform texture and Janka hardness of 3,190 lbf. One of the densest, most durable tropical hardwoods available. Naturally resistant to rot, insects, and heavy foot traffic. A premium choice for decking, boardwalks, bridge timbers, and heavy structural exterior use in South Florida.
Spanish Cedar
The benchmark species for high-end window and door construction across South Florida. Lightweight yet naturally resistant to rot and insects — its aromatic oils actively repel termites and moisture. Machines and finishes exceptionally well. The preferred choice of South Florida millwork shops, door manufacturers, and marine cabinetry builders.
Wenge
Dramatic dark chocolate-brown with striking fine black grain lines — one of the most visually powerful hardwoods in architectural design. Janka hardness of 1,630 lbf. Naturally resistant to decay with coarse, open grain that creates a distinctive raw, contemporary aesthetic. The top choice for luxury flooring, feature staircases, and high-end millwork in South Florida.
